The heart of TorGuard setup is the protocol selector inside the app, which you can change yourself without reinstalling a profile. Options range from WireGuard (the fastest and the recommended default), through OpenVPN UDP and TCP, IKEv2, OpenConnect and V2Ray. If a workplace network or a restrictive ISP blocks VPNs with deep packet inspection, work through this order before giving up: switch to OpenVPN TCP, turn on Stealth/ObsTCP (essentially Shadowsocks for obfuscation), or move to OpenConnect on Port 443 so the traffic resembles ordinary HTTPS. One of those usually gets through.

Windows / macOS / Linux
TorGuard provides separate apps for Windows, macOS and Linux, plus browser extensions. After logging in with the same account as the dashboard, open the protocol menu and set WireGuard, then pick a server near Thailand — there are 3,000+ servers in 50+ countries, and Singapore usually gives the lowest ping for users in Thailand. Be sure to enable App Killer, which is TorGuard's name for its kill switch and cuts your connection instantly if the VPN tunnel drops, and turn on DNS leak protection in the same settings tab.

iOS / Android
Install the TorGuard app from the App Store or Play Store, log in, and tap Allow when prompted to install the VPN configuration onto the device (iOS also asks you to confirm in Settings). On mobile, IKEv2 is a sensible default because it reconnects quickly when you move between Wi-Fi and 4G/5G. On locked-down public Wi-Fi you can switch to Stealth just as you would on desktop, and you can enable split tunneling if you want certain apps — say, Thai banking apps — to run outside the VPN.

Attach a Dedicated / Streaming IP
A feature that sets TorGuard apart from many providers is its personal IP add-ons — Dedicated IP, Residential IP and Streaming IP, all built to be more stable than a shared IP. You don't configure these in the app: go to the member dashboard first, buy the add-on and attach the IP to your account. Once it is provisioned, that IP shows up as a new entry in the app's server list, ready to select and connect. Streaming IPs are intended for services that block data-center IPs, while a Dedicated IP suits logins or work systems that whitelist a single fixed IP.

Enable port forwarding for P2P
If you use TorGuard for P2P/torrents or need to open a port for a service, TorGuard supports port forwarding, which is also configured from the member dashboard. Open the port forward page, choose the server location you are connected to, and request a port; the system maps it for you to enter into your torrent client (such as qBittorrent) for healthier, active connections. Pick a P2P-friendly server location and keep App Killer enabled throughout, so that if the VPN drops mid-download your real IP is never exposed.

Generate a router config
Setting up TorGuard on a router is done through the config generator in the member dashboard rather than the app. Choose a protocol (OpenVPN or WireGuard) and a location, and it produces a config file with the credentials you load into a compatible router — typically firmware that includes an OpenVPN/WireGuard client. This sends every device at home, including Smart TVs and gadgets that have no app, through the VPN at once. Bear in mind that a router tunnel usually serves a single location at a time, so if you like to switch countries often, running the app per device stays more flexible.
Check App Killer & DNS leaks
Before relying on it, confirm three things so you know TorGuard is fully working. First, your IP has changed: check whatismyip.com matches the country of the server you chose. Second, there is no DNS leak: test at dnsleaktest.com and your old ISP's DNS should not appear. Third, App Killer actually triggers: drop the VPN connection mid-session and watch whether the internet stops immediately. If it keeps flowing, the kill switch is off, so go back and enable it in the settings tab first.
