Security SiteGround
SiteGround has multi-layer security working together — covering Network Level, Application Level, and Data Level. What differentiates SiteGround is built-in security, not add-ons. Every plan includes WAF + Anti-bot + SSL + Daily Backup + Anti-malware at no extra cost.
Web Application Firewall WAF
SiteGround's WAF operates at the application layer, blocking SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, and all known attack patterns. The security team updates WAF rules daily when new vulnerabilities are discovered for WordPress, Joomla, PHP, or web servers — protecting sites even before plugins are patched.

Visit SiteGround →AI Anti-bot System
SiteGround developed a proprietary AI Anti-bot system that analyzes traffic patterns in real-time, automatically detecting and blocking bad bots (scrapers, brute-force bots, DDoS bots). The system learns from traffic patterns across 3+ million SiteGround domains for more accurate detection than rule-based systems.
SSL: Free SSL Certificate
Free SSL on all plans using Let's Encrypt — auto-installed at signup, auto-renewed every 90 days with no manual action required. Premium SSL options (EV SSL or Wildcard SSL covering all subdomains) available for purchase. Standard SSL on SiteGround consistently receives A+ grade from ssllabs.com.
Backup: Daily Backup Plan
SiteGround automatically performs daily backups on all plans, retaining 30 days of backups. One-click restore from cPanel. GrowBig and GoGeek include on-demand backup (backup anytime) — ideal before updating plugins or themes.
Anti-malware Scanner
SiteGround includes HackAlert Malware Monitoring running continuously in the background, scanning for malicious code or backdoors in files. If malware is detected, immediate email notification is sent. cPanel includes ImunifyAV for scanning and cleaning.
DDoS Protection
SiteGround offers DDoS Protection at both network level (infrastructure) and application level (WAF + Anti-bot). Free Cloudflare CDN (included on all plans) adds an additional DDoS protection layer at the edge, absorbing attack traffic before it reaches the origin server.
Two-Factor Authentication 2FA
SiteGround supports 2FA for account login via Authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy). Highly recommended to enable immediately after signup to prevent account takeover even if password is leaked. cPanel also includes IP Restrictor to whitelist allowed IPs.
WordPress: Security WordPress
SiteGround has WordPress-specific security: blocks xmlrpc.php (vulnerability used for bot brute-force), limits login attempts via WAF, and can auto-disable plugins/themes with known vulnerabilities via SiteGround Security tool. Also recommended: install Wordfence or iThemes Security plugin for detailed monitoring.
