Webmail

SiteGround offers 2 webmail options: Roundcube (recommended) — clean Gmail-like interface. Horde — more features but complex UI. Access webmail at webmail.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com:2096, login with full email address and password.

Setup: SMTP Email

SMTP Settings: Server: mail.yourdomain.com, Port: 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL), Username: [email protected] (full), Password: as set. Use TLS Port 587 — avoid Port 25 (often blocked by ISPs). Use these settings for WordPress wp-mail or email-sending plugins.

Setup: IMAP Email

IMAP Settings (sync across all devices): Server: mail.yourdomain.com, Port: 993 (SSL), Username: [email protected], Password: as set. IMAP is better than POP3 because email is stored on server and synced across all devices.

Spam Filter Anti-spam

SiteGround uses SpamAssassin as the primary spam filter, working automatically to block spam before it reaches the inbox. Spam score adjustable in cPanel for tighter filtering. Email forwarder supports additional rule-based filtering.

Email SiteGround

Key limitations: number of emails per hour is limited (typically 500 emails/hour/account) — not suitable for bulk email marketing. Mailbox storage shares the same hosting storage; full mailbox affects website storage.

Email Forwarding

SiteGround supports Email Forwarding — automatically forwards received email to another address. E.g., forward from [email protected] to personal Gmail. Set up in cPanel → Forwarders → Add Forwarder. Manage email easily without opening additional webmail.

Google Workspace SiteGround

To use Google Workspace (Calendar, Meet, Drive included) with a domain hosted on SiteGround, simply change MX Records in cPanel to point to Google instead. You can use both SiteGround Email and Google Workspace, or choose only one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can SiteGround Email send from WordPress?
Yes, but it's recommended to install the WP Mail SMTP plugin and configure SiteGround's SMTP (mail.yourdomain.com, port 587), because by default WordPress sends email via the PHP mail function, which is often blocked by spam filters.
Can I send large volumes of email through SiteGround?
Not suitable. SiteGround limits the number of emails sent per hour. If you need to send large volumes of email marketing, you should use a separate service such as Mailchimp, Brevo (Sendinblue), or Amazon SES, which are designed specifically for high-volume email.
How do I move from SiteGround Email to Google Workspace?
Sign up for Google Workspace first to get Google's MX records. Then in cPanel → Zone Editor, change the MX records to point to Google instead. Your old emails on SiteGround remain, but new incoming email will go to Google.
How large of an email attachment can I send?
SiteGround Email limits attachments to about 35MB per email. For files larger than this, it's recommended to upload to Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link in the email instead.
