What is Dedicated Server
A Dedicated Server is an entire physical server used exclusively by one customer. All CPU, RAM, storage, and network bandwidth are yours alone — ideal for heavy workloads, high-traffic websites, or applications requiring full server resources.
VPS
VPS divides a physical server into multiple virtual machines sharing CPU/RAM from the same physical host. Dedicated provides the entire physical server undivided — more consistent performance, especially for disk I/O and CPU.
Cloud: Cloud Server
Cloud servers are more flexible, scale quickly, and charge by usage. Dedicated provides real physical hardware at a fixed monthly cost — less flexible but more consistent performance. Cloud uses vCPUs that may share physical cores; Dedicated gets true physical cores.
Servers: Dedicated Server
Dedicated Server types: Entry-level (4-8 core CPU, 16-32GB RAM), Mid-range (16-32 cores, 64-256GB RAM), High-end (64+ cores, 512GB+ RAM), and GPU Servers for AI/ML workloads. Some providers offer Bare Metal Cloud — dedicated hardware with cloud-speed provisioning.
Spec
Key specs: CPU cores and clock speed, RAM DDR4/DDR5 ECC, Storage NVMe SSD RAID or HDD, Network 1Gbps/10Gbps port, IPMI/iDRAC for out-of-band management, and bandwidth in GB/month or unmetered.
Managed vs Unmanaged Dedicated
Unmanaged: you handle all OS, security, and updates — cheaper, suitable for experienced SysAdmins. Managed: provider handles OS updates, security patches, and monitoring — costs 2-3× more but saves time.
VPS: VPS Dedicated
Consider Dedicated when VPS is insufficient: frequent CPU bursts, constantly near full RAM, disk I/O bottleneck, need physical resources without virtualization overhead, or compliance requiring a dedicated physical server.
Dedicated Server Pricing
Thai Dedicated Servers start ~3,000-5,000 THB/month. International: Hetzner starts ~€39/month (~1,500 THB), OVH starts ~$45/month. Hetzner is cheapest in Europe but servers are in EU/US, not Asia.
Choosing: Dedicated Server
Factors: required specs (CPU/RAM/Storage), location (Thailand/Singapore for low Thai latency), managed or unmanaged, SLA uptime, support quality, network speed, and budget. Benchmark before committing long-term.
