Dedicated IP Thailand Hosting Guide

Dedicated IP Thailand Hosting Guide

What is Dedicated IP

A Dedicated IP is an IP address used exclusively by your website. In Shared Hosting, one IP may be shared among hundreds or thousands of websites. Dedicated IP gives you an exclusive IP affecting email reputation and certain technical flexibilities.

What is Shared IP

Shared IP is an IP address shared among multiple websites on the same server. Virtual hosting lets the server route requests to the correct domain by reading the Host Header, not the IP. Shared IP isn't harmful for most websites.

Dedicated IP vs Shared IP

Key current differences: Email Reputation (if other sites on the same IP send spam, it affects you), ability to access the server directly via IP, and configurable reverse DNS. Formerly, Dedicated IP was required for SSL but SNI solved that.

SSL: Dedicated IP SSL

SSL formerly required a Dedicated IP, but SNI (Server Name Indication) solved this since 2003. All modern browsers (except IE on Windows XP) support SNI, making SSL on Shared IP work normally. Let's Encrypt works on Shared IP too.

Email Reputation

Email is the main remaining reason for Dedicated IPs. If outbound email uses Shared IP and another site on that IP spams heavily, the IP may get blacklisted — affecting your email deliverability too. Businesses doing email marketing should consider Dedicated IP.

SEO

Google confirms Shared IP vs Dedicated IP doesn't affect SEO. Matt Cutts from Google explicitly stated that IP is not a ranking factor. Websites on Shared IP rank equally well as Dedicated IP sites. Speed and quality content matter far more.

Dedicated IP

Use Dedicated IP when: sending high-volume email marketing, needing reverse DNS for email server (PTR Record), testing website via IP directly before DNS propagation, or using specific software requiring Dedicated IP.

Dedicated IP

Dedicated IP on Shared Hosting typically costs $1-5/month extra due to IPv4 scarcity. VPS includes Dedicated IP in the VPS price. Cloudflare is an alternative hiding Shared IP — visitors see Cloudflare's IP instead.

VPS: VPS Dedicated IP

If using VPS, you automatically get a Dedicated IP at no extra cost — one reason VPS is better than Shared Hosting for email marketing. Additionally, you can configure PTR Records (Reverse DNS) yourself on VPS.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does a Dedicated IP really help SEO?
No. Google is clear that the IP Address is not a Ranking Factor. A website on a Shared IP can rank on Google just as well as one on a Dedicated IP, if the Content is good and it has good Backlinks. Buying a Dedicated IP for SEO is a waste of money for no reason.
How can you check whether an IP is Blacklisted?
Use the MXToolbox Blacklist Check at mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx, enter the IP you want to check, and the system checks over 100 Blacklists. If it is Blacklisted, you must identify the cause and request a Delist from that Blacklist.
What should you do if a Shared IP gets Blacklisted?
Contact the Hosting Provider immediately, because an IP Blacklist affects every website on that IP. Hosting Providers usually have an Abuse team that handles such problems. If the Hosting does not handle it, consider Upgrading to a VPS that has its own Dedicated IP.
Is Email Deliverability different between a VPS and Shared Hosting?
A VPS gives you more control: you can set the PTR Record, have a dedicated IP, and choose your own Mail Server. But if you do not configure SPF/DKIM/DMARC correctly, Email can still be marked as Spam. For high-volume Email Marketing, using a Transactional Email Service such as SendGrid or Mailchimp is recommended.
